Furloughed
On Saturday, 21, March, 2020, I was told to close my charity shop until further notice and on Monday, 23, March, 2020, Boris Johnson, announced a national lockdown to try to control the spread of COVID 19 across the U.K. – I became one of millions to be furloughed with an uncertain future.
Like most everyone else with lots of time on their hands, I found things to do – gardening, DIY. and whilst some discovered new hobbies, I put a great deal of effort into my studies, I drank lots of tea, listened to the radio and discovered daytime TV.
At first it was all very novel and for the first month I was still on full salary, then my salary reduced to 80% under the government furloughed scheme.
As weeks become months, feelings of isolation and financial insecurity begin to set in – and time drags on…..
